Welcoming in spring at Birchwood Care Services

Welcoming in spring at Birchwood Care Services

Spring has sprung at Birchwood Care Services. The official start to the season might not be until 20th March, but we’re already embracing the energy and freshness of the springtime.

Today, we’d like to share with you some of our March highlights. We’ve had plenty to celebrate this month, from our Client and Carer of the Month to welcoming back our fabulous carer Kate Furlonger, who recently returned from maternity leave. Without further ado, here are some of the things that have added a bit of a spring to our step this month.

David Scott was awarded Client of the Month for March, nominated by our carer, Zuzanna Joubert. David is always happy to see our team and his joyful demeanour means he’s a pleasure to be around. He always shows such appreciation for the care our team provide. We were glad to be able to provide him with a nice bunch of flowers and a bottle of red wine.

Our Carer of the Month for March is Julia Whearty. Julia has been nominated by many of her colleagues for always being happy to take on extra responsibilities and for being professional and caring, no matter the challenges. Julia is always polite and joyful, and we recognise her efforts in going above and beyond. Thank you, Julia!

We’d also like to take a moment to welcome back our fabulous carer, Kate Furlonger who has recently returned from maternity leave. Kate is an incredibly valuable member of our team and is a great example of someone who embodies our Birchwood Promise. A fantastic work ethic, an understanding and considerate approach, and a heart full of kindness is what makes a good carer. Welcome back, Kate!

This month, all of our carers are undertaking a ‘Working with Mental Health Needs’ qualification. There is no ‘one size fits all’ way to support someone with a mental illness and we want to ensure we can put this into practice at Birchwood Care Services. In fact, there’s no ‘one size fits all’ to any form of care and there are always a number of things to consider. We wrote an article about some of these considerations with regards to in home care in our ‘why hire an at-home carer?’ blog post.

It’s been so lovely to be able to get social events back in the diary again now restrictions have lifted. We’ve been enjoying some fantastic team outings and projects and it really helps our teams better understand each other. Here at Birchwood Care Services, an independent and family-owned homecare provider, we employ a close-knit team of loyal carers.

We hope you’ve enjoyed hearing about our March highlights. We’re heading into spring with plenty of positivity and we can’t wait to share that positivity with you.
